This terrible thing happens all too often, and anyone who has written anything (Whether it be a novel, a short story, an essay, or many other things). Personally it has become my #1 enemy when I'm writing. It is most of the reason why I can't finish a story, well that and the fact that I just can't think of a good way to end it. Anyway, you don't really need to hear about my writing issues.
So, I managed to find this really cool blog. One of their entries talked about how to overcome writer's block. I am going to tell you a fer of my favorites from their list, and then elaborate on why I think that this might help. If you would like to go see their post, you can find the link here.
- Eliminate distractions
- Change your environment
- Read a book
I almost never do this. I prefer just to go with my main idea and let everything flow.
- Listen to music
- Spend time with someone who makes you feel good
- Call an old friend
Honestly, all this does is keep me from writing. It is one of my many forms of procrastination.
- Brainstorm some ideas in bullet points.
For me this goes hand in hand with Freewriting. It's something that I never do. However, I have tried to just write a page of starting paragraphs for stories, or to also write an introductory paragraph about a picture and then maybe even get an idea and continue it.
- Read some inspiring quotes to get you started
i'm not sure how this would help, but the blog included this link. It has some good quotes that might help.
I hope that you have all liked this post, also try to listen to this song to get you in the creative mood. I know it works for me. | |
